DALLAS, TX – 2Piece Malone is an artist who embodies the duality of mankind – the idea that every person essentially has two personalities. It’s an idea as old as time. Some have called it the Id and the Ego, the good and the bad, the fun and the serious. For 2Piece Malone, it’s an identity that he hopes fans will embrace through his self-proclaimed “yin and yang” music. “It’s the whole reason why I go by 2Piece Malone,” he said. “I have two albums that I dropped at the same time, and one is more straight, hard content with a lot of substance while the other album is more about having fun and being relaxed and shows my other side of my personality. I think everybody has at least two personalities within them. Someone might be militant one moment and then thuggin’ the next. Most people carry two personalities within them, whether they admit it or not, and when you hear my music I want you to feel something regardless of where you’re at in the moment – mad, sad, laughing … it doesn’t matter, as long as you’re getting some kind of feeling from it.” Born as Robert Malone, 2Piece first became interested in music as a young child. He said he remembers growing up with older brothers who would always be watching movies that featured people rapping in them. He also remembers parents who would play some of the classics – like the Temptations and the 5 Heartbeats. “Seeing that and seeing the power you can have with your words to affect people, and seeing them react to that, was real intriguing for me initially,” he said. “I started writing some of my own stuff when I was 14, and started getting serious about it toward the end of high school.” Today he’s growing in popularity internationally – currently bouncing back and forth between Kuwait and Dubai to push his music and perform live shows or DJ private parties. He’s had the opportunity to perform at a number of clubs in Dubai and plans to extend his global tour through April of 2017 before coming back to the U.S. In the meantime, he hopes fans will be impressed with a new single he’s released called “Barz” that’s available on Spotify and Soundcloud. He said it’s a song that’s somewhat “psychedelic” in a sense. “It’s a song that came about on one of those nights when I took some Xanex bars and was listening to some beats and that’s what popped into my head,” he said. “It’s one of the standout songs on the EP I released (“2Piece Malone – NLFS,” available on iTunes). It’s a comical song but it also has a double meaning. It’s lyrical and funny and psychedelic and trippy all at the same time.” Fans who want to get more information about 2Piece Malone or sample more of his music can visit his website at 2piecemalone.com, or sample some of his music videos on YouTube.
